Genealogy 101 with Jen Gunther!

Description

Ever wonder where you came from?  Where your ancestors lived?  When and How they got to America?  This presentation introduces genealogy basic concepts:  how and where to start, basic recording forms, beginning the family tree, organizing manual and digital files, inventorying artifacts, local resources, and more.  Join in the fun of the second most popular hobby -- Family History & Genealogy!

Jennie Gunther has been playing with genealogy for 20 years after being the recipient of a genealogy information DUMP from her mother.  What to do with all that stuff?  She says " I started learning and doing it the hard way," and like they say, "the rest is history", or more accurately "family history".  She is a founding member of the Family History Group at NC State's OLLI program -- education for seniors.  She is an active member of the Wake County Genealogy Society as well as several other state genealogy societies where she has ancestors -- NOT a NC native, but a "Midwesterner".  She has presented numerous training programs on varied genealogy topics like "Citing Your Sources" and "Organizing Your Genealogy Stuff" and many more.  She is a Board member and Outreach Coordinator for the Raleigh SeniorTechEd organization - a group of dedicated volunteers who teach technology -- and genealogy -- to seniors in the Wake County area.
